SHINE! Conference 2009 was a huge success, with 30 young adults gathering in Toronto from across Canada to celebrate our diversity and explore liberating theologies.

SHINE! is a unique event – a rare chance for queer students, youth and our allies to come together from many backgrounds, from within and outside the churches, and engage in issues of faith, justice, spirituality, leadership and activist organizing. Part of our ground-breaking Queer & Christian Without Contradiction campaign, SHINE! will help queer Christians, questioners and allies ‘radiate a dream of inclusion and liberation.’ All are welcome at this important gathering!

Featuring cutting-edge speakers, resources for organizing against homophobia in our churches and communities, and training in grassroots leadership, anti-oppression, arts and worship.

SHINE! is part of the SCM’s General Conference, and participants are invited to register for the queer-themed weekend (May 6-10), or the entire conference (May 2-10) for the full community experience.

SCM is an LGBTQIA-positive, ecumenical Christian youth movement; we are committed to our Anti-Oppression Covenant and our events feature anti-oppression workshops, sexual harassment training and a team of trained chaplains to increase the safety of our space.
